Our client is a well-established importer / retailer / distributor of Oriental Pan Asian Foods (temperature controlled – Fresh Frozen & Ambient) and have a job open for Director – Retail Store Equipment & Engineering to lead the Design & Engineering of new store/ retail unit openings within existing buildings. This role is fully responsible for assessing the existing site capabilities, conduct load calculations, lay out equipment selection (HVAC, compressors, roof top units and similar), propose floor plans, conduct all initial cost estimates, project costs, liaison with the building landlord for leasing documentation and work closely with the municipalities, city and other governing bodies for regulatory compliance. You will ensure all timelines are being met during this Fit-Out phase and ensure all approved specifications are handed over to capital project management teams for execution. This is 5 days on site and will involve less than 20% travel across Canada. Conversational Cantonese / Mandarin is a MUST to be able to communicate with regional offices.
Director – Retail Store Equipment & Engineering will have minimum 12-15 years of experience in new store design and engineering commercial temperature controlled (refrigeration food grade project design experience a MUST), Fit -Up start to finish including strong experience in load calculation for food facility equipment selection roof top, chillers, compressors, heating, plumbing and others. Experience creating Fit Out budget (MUST) working with municipalities, city are all MUST haves. Engineering degree, load calculation experience, equipment specification calculation Cantonese / mandarin speaking area all MUST haves. This role requires some travel (less than 20%)
