This is an exciting opportunity to join a creative, ambitious and collaborative organization at an important stage of growth, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on its financial strategy and operations.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a commercially minded, analytical and hands-on FP&A & Corporate Finance Manager to join the SMYTHE team.
This role offers a unique combination of financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, operational oversight and team leadership. You will manage and develop the Finance Associate, ensuring transactional finance activities run smoothly while maintaining ownership of financial reporting, forecasting, systems and strategic analysis.
With SMYTHE preparing to launch its US subsidiary, you will also play a critical role in establishing the financial infrastructure to support international growth, including reporting structures, transfer pricing governance and cross-border compliance.
We see this as an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building processes, improving financial visibility and translating data into meaningful business recommendations. As the company continues to grow, there is potential to take on greater ownership across the finance function, with increasing exposure to senior leadership, board reporting and external stakeholders.

- Maintain channel-level and departmental financial reporting to provide visibility into business performance.

- Lead the development of the financial infrastructure for SMYTHE's new US subsidiary, including reporting structures and chart of accounts.
- Establish transfer pricing guidelines for intercompany transactions between Canadian and US entities.
- Partner with external tax and legal advisors to ensure compliance with CRA and IRS requirements.
- Prepare and maintain transfer pricing documentation to support regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
- Monitor foreign exchange exposure and contribute to FX risk management strategies.
- Support the ongoing development of financial processes and governance as the business expands internationally.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Own the month-end and year-end close processes, overseeing reconciliations, reporting accuracy and deadlines.
- Manage the Finance Associate's execution of transactional activities, including accounts payable, invoice processing, purchase order matching and payment runs.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls, financial processes and reporting standards.
- Support the external audit process, coordinating documentation and working with auditors as required.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian tax requirements, including monthly sales tax reconciliations and remittances.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory and reporting obligations across Canadian and US operations.
Cash Flow Management
- Prepare and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts, monitoring liquidity and proactively identifying potential risks.
- Oversee cash positioning across Canadian and US entities to ensure sufficient funds are available to meet business obligations.
- Partner with department leaders to ensure financial information is accurate, timely and reflected appropriately in NetSuite.
- Provide cash flow insights and recommendations to support operational and strategic planning.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Team Leadership
- Manage, coach and develop the Finance Associate, providing clear direction, feedback and opportunities for professional growth.
- Establish clear accountabilities and support performance development through regular coaching and the annual performance management process.
- Partner with department heads to gather financial inputs, improve forecasting accuracy and support informed decision-making.
- Represent finance in cross-functional conversations, bringing a commercial and analytical perspective to business priorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting processes and operational efficiencies, particularly through NetSuite optimization.
- Support the Director of Finance & Administration with ad hoc analysis, business initiatives and strategic projects.
What Success Looks Like in Your First Year
This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact from the outset. Within your first 12 months, success will look like:

- Establishing the financial reporting structure, chart of accounts and transfer pricing documentation for SMYTHE's new US subsidiary.
- Delivering accurate, meaningful rolling forecasts and variance analysis that leadership actively uses to guide business decisions.

You bring a balance of strategic thinking and hands on execution. You are comfortable digging into the details, building financial models and managing reporting requirements, while also stepping back to understand the bigger picture.
You are naturally curious, solutions-focused and confident working with stakeholders across different functions. You know how to make complex information accessible and bring a thoughtful, collaborative approach to the conversations you lead.
You take ownership of your work, operate with a high degree of autonomy and are comfortable navigating changing priorities. You value accuracy, structure and accountability, but also recognize the importance of flexibility and creative problem-solving in an entrepreneurial business.
Above all, you enjoy being part of a team, building strong relationships and contributing to the long-term success of an organization.
