About the role
Our client is one of North America's leading industrial services companies, delivering turn-key solutions across a wide range of markets. Its culture puts safety first and values people, ethics and excellence.
As HRIS Technical Analyst, you will be the hands-on technical owner of the workforce systems behind an ongoing UKG implementation in its building services division, which operates across Canada. You will cover UKG Pro, UKG Workforce Management (Dimensions) and Passport Workforce.
You'll be more than a system administrator: you'll be a business partner with strong business acumen. You'll understand how HR, Payroll, Operations and Finance work together, translate their needs into practical system solutions, and recommend improvements that reduce manual work. You'll get the data right, explain technical issues in plain language and support your users with patience and follow-through.
This is a hybrid role based in Toronto.
What you'll do
Platform configuration and administration
- Configure and administer UKG Pro and UKG Dimensions: business rules, pay rules, work rules, security roles, workflows, timekeeping, scheduling, accruals, onboarding and offboarding, org structure and employee self-service.
- Administer Passport Workforce for field time capture, crews and approvals, including forms, union rules and rates, and job costing logic.
- Manage role-based access across UKG and Passport, run access reviews, maintain separation of duties and support internal and external audits.
- Support each payroll cycle: pre-payroll validations, pay-period close and year-end processing.
- Maintain pay policies, earning and deduction codes, cost centres and tax setups that reflect each division's policies, collective agreements and federal and provincial requirements (overtime, meals and breaks).
- Manage test and production environments, and validate configuration changes, UKG releases and new features before they go live.
Integrations and data
- Build and support integrations between UKG, Passport, payroll, NetSuite (ERP), FieldPoint and other systems, using file-based (SFTP) and API interfaces.
- Monitor interface jobs, resolve failures and data discrepancies, and manage vendor relationships.
- Perform data mapping, mass updates and reconciliations using SQL and Excel.
Support and reporting
- Provide tier 2 and tier 3 support to the divisions through the ticketing process, including root-cause analysis, vendor escalation and after-hours coverage at payroll deadlines.
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards in UKG and Passport, and train users on self-serve reporting.
Continuous improvement
- Turn divisional requests into practical configuration, integration or reporting solutions aligned with company standards.
- Bring acquired companies onto UKG and Passport, including data conversion and configuration.
- Plan, test and communicate system changes, and keep configuration and support documentation current.
- Stay current on UKG releases and recommend how to use new features to reduce manual workarounds.
What you bring
- 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience as an HRIS specialist, systems analyst or HR technology administrator.
- Direct configuration experience with UKG Pro and/or UKG Workforce Management (Dimensions), including pay rules, work rules and security.
- Experience supporting unionized workforces and collective agreement pay rules.
- Working knowledge of SQL, advanced Excel, UKG reporting and integration tools, and file-based or API integrations.
- Experience building reports and dashboards in HR or workforce management platforms.
- A solid understanding of the full employee lifecycle, from recruiting and onboarding to performance, benefits and payroll, and how data flows between each stage.
- Project management skills, with a track record of delivering system changes, rollouts and upgrades on time.
