What we’re looking for
We are looking for a Manager, Digital Media Production who can lead people with clarity and confidence, elevate creative quality, and oversee the development and delivery of high-impact educational content across video, audio, and emerging digital formats.
You will lead a team of Digital Media Producers responsible for creating content that supports classroom learning, lifelong learning, and public engagement across multiple platforms.
Success in this role requires someone who can balance creativity with execution, provide clear direction and actionable feedback, set high standards, and help producers continually strengthen their craft.
You will be accountable for both team performance and content impact: leading a strong, well-supported production team while ensuring its work is audience-focused, strategically aligned, accessible, and delivered with excellence.
How you will make an impact
Team Leadership and Operations
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Digital Media Producers through clear priorities, feedback, and professional development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and optimize workflows, timelines, and production processes that support efficient, scalable content creation.
- Lead multiple concurrent streams of work, balancing quality, timelines, resources, stakeholder needs, and competing priorities.
- Continuously improve team performance, tools, and workflows, including the responsible adoption of AI and emerging technologies.
Creative Leadership and Content Strategy
- Provide creative direction throughout the content lifecycle, helping producers strengthen storytelling, structure, pacing, and platform fit.
- Shape compelling, audience-focused content for TVO Learn, online courses, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
- Ensure content aligns with TVO's brand standards, editorial principles, accessibility requirements, and organizational goals.
- Champion innovation in storytelling formats, production approaches, and audience engagement.
Execution, Quality and Impact
- Oversee end-to-end content production from concept through publication and distribution.
- Maintain a high standard for storytelling, production quality, educational value, editorial integrity, and accessibility.
- Use analytics and audience insights to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Support the development of scalable, reusable content assets that maximize value across platforms.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Innovation
- Build strong working relationships across Education, Media, Product, Marketing, Copyright, and other teams to support shared planning, efficient production, and consistent audience experience.
- Identify opportunities for shared planning, co-creation, and multi-platform storytelling, including ways to adapt strong ideas across educational, editorial, promotional, and social content contexts.
- Translate organizational priorities into clear and actionable production plans.
What You Bring
This role is best suited to a leader who enjoys developing people as much as developing content, and who can bring structure, judgment, and momentum to creative production work.
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in communications, journalism, media production, education, digital media, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, timelines, stakeholders, and production priorities in a fast-paced environment.
People Leadership
- Experience leading and developing creative, content, or production teams in fast-paced environments, with a demonstrated ability to coach individuals, strengthen performance, and build team capability over time.
- Proven ability to set clear expectations, provide constructive and timely feedback, address performance concerns, and support professional growth.
- Confident decision-maker who can balance creative ambition, audience needs, quality standards, and operational realities.
Content and Production Expertise
- Significant experience in digital content production, media production, educational content, or related fields, with demonstrated success leading content from concept through production, publication, and optimization.
- Strong understanding of digital storytelling, audience engagement, content strategy, and platform best practices.
- Experience using responsible AI and emerging technologies responsibly to improve content workflows, accelerate production where appropriate, and increase efficiency while maintaining editorial quality, accuracy, and accessibility.
- Ability to evaluate new tools and approaches while maintaining editorial quality, accuracy, and integrity.
- Curiosity about evolving content technologies and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Experience creating content for educational, public media, mission-driven, or knowledge-focused audiences is considered an asset.
Collaboration and Communication
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to build alignment across cross-functional teams and navigate competing priorities.
- Skilled at influencing decisions, facilitating collaboration, and creating clarity in complex environments.
Mindset
- Passion for content, storytelling, education, and public media.
- Highly organized, proactive, and solutions-oriented.
- Adaptable and energized by change and continuous improvement.
- Committed to accessibility, inclusion, and lifelong learning.
What Success in This Role Looks Like
- A high-performing team that has clear priorities, strong feedback practices, and the support needed to produce exceptional digital content.
- Content that delivers measurable audience and learner impact through engagement, usefulness, accessibility, and alignment with TVO's educational and public-service mandate.
