About the Company
A growing SaaS company with a product engineering organization that is still defining how it builds and ships. The platform runs on React, .NET, and API-based microservices hosted on Azure, with payments and financial workflows central to the product.
The Role
This is a senior engineering leadership seat for someone who runs an organization through other leaders. You will own delivery across several product squads, each led by a technical lead, and act as Product’s main engineering partner for your area. The mandate is clear: diagnose what is slowing delivery, fix it, and get multiple teams shipping on time and at a high standard. It suits a leader already operating at director scope, or one who is ready to make that step.
What You Will Do
- Lead a group of squads through their technical leads, coaching them into stronger managers while handling performance, morale, and retention issues head on
- Work out why delivery is stalling, then put in place the planning, estimation, and progress tracking that turns roadmap commitments into shipped product
- Partner with Product from discovery onward on scope, sequencing, and trade-offs, keeping plans grounded in real team capacity
- Guide architecture and modernization decisions across teams, with particular depth on payments, while leaving squad-level technical calls to the leads who own them
- Raise the bar on testing, reliability, and security early in the lifecycle, and bring in new practices, including AI-assisted development, where they prove their value
What You Bring
- 10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years managing engineering leads or managers in SaaS
- Experience running an organization of 20+ engineers through one or more managers or tech leads, not a single team of individual contributors
- A track record of taking multi-team Agile groups from inconsistent execution to predictable, customer-facing releases
- Strong architectural judgment across React, .NET, microservices, and Azure, with the depth to review major changes and set direction across teams
- Payments experience is a major advantage; background in financial or other regulated systems carries real weight
Why This Role
Several product launches are on the near-term roadmap and the company wants an engineering leader who owns delivery so the executive team does not have to. You will have the authority to change how teams plan, build, and ship, and the scope to grow into broader engineering leadership as the organization scales.
