A North American marketing organization is seeking a Strategist to join its Toronto-based Strategy team.
For decades, this organization has helped companies build their brands and create meaningful connections with consumers. Its multidisciplinary teams deliver marketing and sales solutions across strategy, creative development, experiential marketing, digital media, and sales support.
As part of the Strategy team, you will lead the strategic development of experiential and integrated marketing programs. You will work directly with clients to unpack their business challenges, translate research into clear creative direction, and guide internal teams toward compelling, on-strategy proposals. This role requires someone who can take ownership, exercise sound judgment, and move work forward independently.
You will:
- Work with clients to clarify their needs, constructively challenge assumptions, and identify the primary brand or business objective behind a brief.
- Define clear marketing objectives, measures of success, and key performance indicators.
- Conduct research and translate consumer, customer, cultural, and category findings into actionable insights that shape creative concepts.
- Develop clear, focused creative briefs that give internal teams a shared understanding of the challenge, audience, insight, and strategic direction.
- Build connected brand experiences that link live activations with relevant digital, social, retail, and other marketing channels.
- Guide creative development in partnership with creative, client service, and production teams, ensuring recommendations remain aligned with the brief and client objectives.
- Exercise strategic judgment when priorities, timelines, or budgets shift, simplifying solutions while protecting the core idea and value for the client.
- Lead the strategic work across multiple projects, aligning contributors, managing competing deadlines, and delivering proposals on time with minimal supervision.
- Develop compelling strategic narratives and client-facing presentations, clearly explaining the rationale behind recommendations and responding confidently to questions and feedback.
- Collaborate with client service and production teams to align recommendations with budgets, scopes of work, and execution requirements.
- Translate program results into meaningful analysis, actionable recommendations, and opportunities to optimize future campaigns.
- Build strong client relationships and serve as a trusted strategic partner throughout the development of the work.
What you bring
The successful candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management, or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant marketing strategy experience, including hands-on ownership of experiential strategy and creative brief development.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead strategic work from problem diagnosis and research through creative development and client presentation.
- Experience using research to uncover consumer insights that directly informed a creative concept or campaign recommendation.
- Experience developing programs that connect live experiences with other marketing channels to create a cohesive consumer journey.
- Sound strategic judgment, including the ability to prioritize, navigate trade-offs, and simplify recommendations without losing their effectiveness.
- Experience guiding cross-functional teams and keeping multiple projects moving under tight deadlines.
- Strong storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to make a clear, persuasive case for an idea and explain how it addresses the client’s business objectives.
- Strong analytical skills and experience translating campaign performance data into recommendations and optimizations.
- A collaborative working style, combined with the initiative, accountability, and confidence to move work forward without close supervision.
- Natural curiosity, creativity, attention to detail, and the confidence to challenge briefs and assumptions constructively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, along with strong overall digital fluency.
- The willingness and ability to travel when required.
Compensation and work environment
The organization also offers:
