About the Opportunity
Clarity Recruitment is building a bench of specialists for its AI practice, which places the people who make AI work inside Canadian organizations. In 2026 we interviewed senior leaders at sixteen Canadian organizations. Ten of them, unprompted, described the same hire: someone who knows a business function deeply and is genuinely fluent in AI.
This is an ongoing need, not a single live vacancy. Our clients know AI could change how their finance, operations, or accounting teams work, but nobody inside can see what it could do for their own job. The Functional AI Expert closes that gap. You know the function from the inside, you redesign the process first, and then you prototype what AI can do with it.
When a matching engagement opens, you’ll work with a small functional team, find the highest-value use cases, and build working prototypes that prove the case. The best work we heard about was not just faster. It was new. If you’ve already been doing this in your own role, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Map current workflows in a business function and identify where AI adds real value
- Redesign broken processes before automating them
- Prototype AI-assisted workflows using tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and low-code automation
- Quantify the impact of each use case in terms leadership cares about: time, accuracy, risk, and capacity
- Move prototypes off individual desktops and into shared, documented team practice
- Hand off production builds to engineers with clear requirements and test cases
- Coach team members on applying AI to their own day-to-day work
What You Bring
- Deep hands-on experience in a business function, ideally finance, accounting, FP&A, or operations
- Demonstrated personal use of AI tools to change how real work gets done, with examples to show
- Strong process thinking: you see the steps, handoffs, and controls behind the work
- Credibility with both functional leaders and technical teams
- Curiosity, initiative, and a bias toward building rather than presenting
- Comfortable operating with little structure and producing tangible output early
Nice to Have
- CPA, MBA or other professional designation
- Experience with low-code or automation platforms (Power Automate, Zapier, n8n, or similar)
- Basic Python or SQL
- Prior transformation, systems implementation, or process improvement work
Next Steps
We do appreciate all interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
