About the Opportunity
We are an established design engineering firm (founded 2007) providing mechanical, mechatronics, and electronics design, high-quality prototyping, and manufacturing services across North America. Our work focuses on practical solutions for complex designs in electronics, medical, and consumer products, with strong emphasis on quality control, competitive pricing, reliable lead times, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
We collaborate with high-tech innovators and manage projects from concept through prototyping and low-volume production. Capabilities include advanced PCB design (embedded, wireless, and mechatronics systems), SLA 3D printing, polyurethane casting, mechanical design, advanced post-processing for production-like finishes and strength, and comprehensive project support.
This part-time role is ideal for an engineer who wants to stay engaged in challenging technical and operational work while maintaining flexibility for family commitments. You will support the supply chain and day-to-day operations that enable high-quality prototypes and production deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the supply chain for engineering projects, including sourcing materials, components, tooling, and services required for mechanical design, electronics/PCB work, SLA prototyping, polyurethane casting, and low-volume manufacturing.
- Oversee supplier relationships (including Mandarin-speaking partners), negotiate pricing and lead times, and ensure alignment with our high standards for quality, cost, and delivery.
- Support project flow from concept to production by coordinating procurement, inventory, and logistics that feed design, prototyping, and post-processing activities.
- Monitor and improve processes related to Design for Manufacturability (DFM), material availability, and production readiness.
- Handle general operations tasks such as order tracking, documentation, quality issue resolution with suppliers, and coordination between engineering and external partners.
- Contribute to practical problem-solving on complex designs and help maintain control over quality, pricing, and schedules.
- Work both on-site (as needed for coordination, reviews, or hands-on support) and off-site/remotely, with a flexible part-time schedule.
Qualifications & Ideal Profile
- Engineering background (mechanical, mechatronics, electronics, industrial, or related) with practical understanding of design, prototyping, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong operational and supply chain experience, preferably in an engineering, product development, or low-to-medium volume manufacturing environment.
- Fluent in Mandarin (essential for supplier communication, documentation, and relationship management).
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to balance multiple projects while maintaining quality and timelines.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic setting that involves both technical problem-solving and general management tasks.
- Ideal candidate is an engineer seeking meaningful, challenging project work (complex designs, DFM, prototyping-to-production support) while needing a flexible, part-time arrangement to balance family responsibilities.
- Experience with supplier management in Asia or bilingual (Mandarin/English) environments is highly advantageous.
What We Offer
- Flexible part-time schedule with a mix of on-site and remote work.
- Opportunity to contribute to high-quality engineering projects involving advanced design, prototyping (including SLA and casting), and production support.
- Exposure to practical engineering challenges and cross-functional collaboration in a focused, quality-driven environment.
- Role structured to support work-life balance for professionals managing family commitments.
This is a hands-on yet flexible position for someone who thrives on operational excellence and technical problem-solving without requiring a full-time on-site commitment.
