What you will do:
- Provide guidance, education and exceptional service to members throughout the member lifecycle, helping them make informed decisions about their HOOPP pension and retirement income options.
- Lead complex retirement planning conversations, applying advanced professional judgment to assess member circumstances, explain options and trade-offs, and translate technical information into clear, practical guidance on retirement-planning considerations such as retirement timing, survivor benefit options, government benefits, pension-related tax considerations, and broader retirement income decisions.
- Manage member interactions from initial inquiry through resolution, including documentation, internal follow-up and coordination with external parties or regulators where required.
- Handle complex and sensitive cases, de-escalate difficult situations, and serve as an escalation resource and subject matter expert for retirement planning, pension and member service inquiries.
- Design, prepare and deliver retirement planning seminars, webinars and educational sessions for diverse audiences, including facilitating both large and small group discussions, adapting content based on audience knowledge and retirement readiness, and confidently responding to complex questions in real time. Develop supporting education content, presentation materials, planning tools and resources.
- Serve as a leading HOOPP presenter and retirement planning educator, representing HOOPP professionally at member and employer events. Build engagement, foster understanding of complex retirement concepts, and deliver high-quality educational experiences at events requiring travel or occasional work outside regular business hours.
- Act as a recognized retirement planning subject matter expert, identifying emerging member needs, service trends, and opportunities for improvement, and providing expert guidance and recommendations to support organizational decision-making and member experience strategies.
- Provide retirement planning expertise to support the design, development, and enhancement of member segmentation strategies, retirement-readiness programs, educational content, digital self-service tools, planning resources, and appropriate AI-enabled member service capabilities.
- Maintain current knowledge of the HOOPP Plan, government retirement benefits, pension-related tax considerations and developments in the retirement planning landscape.
What you bring:
- Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills, with the confidence and professional presence to engage and educate diverse audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex pension and retirement planning concepts in clear, easy-to-understand language.
- Strong consultative, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a member-focused and collaborative approach.
- Skilled at leading complex and sensitive conversations, resolving conflict and de-escalating difficult situations.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and adapt to changing member and organizational needs.
- Ability to recognize patterns in member interactions and translate them into practical insights and recommendations.
- Experience developing educational content and tailoring delivery to different audiences and levels of retirement readiness.
- Confidence using digital service, presentation and collaboration technologies, with openness to evolving digital and AI-enabled ways of working.
- Possess a valid Ontario driver’s license
- Completed university degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline.
- Advanced financial or retirement planning designation, such as (PFP®, QAFP™ or CFP®) or willingness to enrol in the course with the expectation of successful completion within an agreed-upon period of time
- 7 years related experience in the pension, retirement planning or financial services industry in a member- or client-facing role.
- Extensive experience presenting and facilitating educational sessions, seminars and webinars, including the ability to engage audiences, adapt delivery style and respond effectively to questions.
