Testing Two rounds of remote user testing
Remote or Hybrid Toronto - EST time
Leo Toronto is a creative advertising agency within the global Leo network. The agency partners with major brands to develop creative ideas and campaigns, bringing together strategy, creativity, design and production.
THE PROJECT
- We're a small team embedded with a large consumer tech client, working on an AI assistant in the health and wellness space. Instead of only replying with text, it shows interactive tools right in the chat.
- This round is about finding out which of those tools people actually want, and what the assistant needs to earn a bigger role. Research is at the centre of it: what we learn decides which tools we take forward.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own user testing for the project: two rounds of moderated, remote sessions on a working prototype with a live AI agent
- Round 1 looks at the tools themselves: would people use them, how often, and which would they want first?
- Round 2 puts the strongest tools together and asks whether the experience is enough, and when people would want it over a general assistant.
- Write test plans, screeners and discussion guides that mix open-ended chat with directed tasks.
- Work with an outside research partner on recruiting and session logistics: screening, scheduling, consent and incentives.
- Share top-line findings by the end of each testing week, then detailed notes and a readout after synthesis.
- Turn findings into clear recommendations the team can act on the following week. Our designers revise between rounds, so speed matters.
- Join daily syncs with the client when you can, and sync with the core team offline.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- You've planned and run moderated usability sessions end to end, from screener to readout.
- You've gone past usability into desirability would people use this, how often, and what would they rank first? You know how to get honest answers to those questions.
- You've handled the logistics too: recruiting, scheduling, no-shows, consent and incentives, including working with recruitment vendors.
- You've tested AI products before. You know the prototype won't say the same thing twice, and youcan design sessions and tasks that still give clean answers.
- You work with AI, not just on it. You use tools like Claude or ChatGPT to draft screeners and guides, sort through transcripts and get to findings faster, and you know where to check its work.
- You synthesize fast and write it down clearly. Top-line findings in days, not weeks.
- You're comfortable presenting to clients and connecting findings to product decisions and what comes next.
Why generative UI matters here.
If you've researched experiences where the AI decides what UI to show
mid-conversation, you'll know the questions that matter: does the right thing appear at the right time, and does the user notice when it doesn't?
NICE TO HAVE
- Health or wellness research, including people with dietary needs
- Remote mobile testing, for example on usertesting.com
- Conversation design skills: mapping flows, edge cases and fallbacks for AI agents
HOW TO APPLY
Send us a short note that covers:
1. Start with your AI product example, in two or three sentences:
what the product was, what the AI did beyond chat, what you tested, and something that surprised you
- How you use AI in your own research workflow, in a sentence or two.
- A sample of past work we can see, like a test plan, a readout or a case study. Redacted is fine.
