Application, location and installation

Apply and pay through the Tree and Bench Dedication service portal. Dedications can mark a person, milestone or special occasion, including birthdays, anniversaries, achievements or a celebration of life.

Request a location, but the city reviews safety and operational feasibility and may change it. The page broadly refers to parks and open space, then specifically restricts dedication tree planting to city parks. Use a city-park request for a tree and ask staff about any other proposed location.

2026 fees and receipt limits

A tree with plaque costs $1,603.50 plus a $154.50 processing fee, both before HST. A bench with plaque costs $3,303.09 plus a $73.87 processing fee, both before HST. Confirm the current total through the portal before paying.

The city does not issue a donation receipt because a dedication is a paid service. That differs from fundraising programs that may offer charitable donation receipts.

Species, guarantees and maintenance

Trees are deciduous, with species and planting site approved by the city; conifers are generally not recommended. Trees are guaranteed for one year after planting and are not replaced after that guarantee period. The program describes benches as permanent.

Applicants cannot specify an installation date because weather, nursery supply, contractors and park work affect timing. The city notifies the applicant after installation by phone or email. City staff maintain dedications as they do other city trees and benches. Questions go to service@vaughan.ca or 905-832-2281.
