The daily parking windows

Unless signs or the by-law say otherwise, on-street parking is allowed for up to three hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. From 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. there is no ordinary time limit. From 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. a valid permit for that date, time and location is required.

An accessible permit allows use of accessible spaces but does not waive other violations such as a fire route. New subdivision roads that the city has not yet assumed are still public highways subject to the parking rules.

Permit types and weather overrides

Residents can use the online portal to buy visitor permits, construction permits when work blocks their own driveway, or monthly permits on streets where the program is allowed. Permits must be valid for the specific use and displayed face-up on the dashboard or on a lowered sun visor as required by the city page.

On-street parking is prohibited during declared significant weather events, including dangerous snow or freezing-rain conditions. Remove vehicles so plows and salt trucks can operate. A vehicle can be ticketed or towed at the owner’s cost. The city announces a declaration through public notices and social channels.

Reporting, private property and false reminders

Enforcement operates every day, 24 hours a day, and York Regional Police may also enforce parking. Report a violation to 905-832-2281 or bylaw@vaughan.ca. For permit assistance use parking.permit@vaughan.ca.

Private plazas, schools and condominiums generally require the owner’s permission, often shown by signs. City-authorized private enforcement firms may issue Vaughan penalty notices. The city says it does not send parking-penalty text messages or email reminders; use the official payment or dispute links rather than links in such messages.
