The last-minute rental offer

The city lists a promotional $99 hourly rate plus HST and applicable insurance, with bookings from one to nine hours. Online availability runs 24 hours to five days ahead, exclusively for recreational skating or shinny. Two change rooms and two hockey nets are included.

Eligible locations are Al Palladini, Garnet A. Williams, Maple, Rosemount, Woodbridge Pool and Memorial Arena, and The Sports Village for city-owned ice time only. The listing is the full last-minute offer scope, not every private arena. More than 30 participants requires staff contact rather than an ordinary online reservation.

Reservation, receipt and other booking windows

Same-day requests use 905-832-2281, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding civic and statutory holidays, for the stated promotional rate plus extras. Requests beyond five days use standard rental rates through Client Services.

Public skating and shinny are different activities

For recreational skating, children under ten need an accompanying adult. Adaptive devices are permitted when supplied by the user. Accompanying adults on ice need skates or ice cleats. Chairs, strollers, hockey sticks, pucks and nets are not permitted during recreational skating.

Shinny requires helmets; face guards are mandatory for children and youth in parent-and-child shinny. That program allows one adult aged 18 or older and two children aged six to 12, with $6 for an additional child and the parent on ice. Public shinny caps players at 24 excluding up to three free goalies. Read the activity-specific session rules rather than applying public-skate rules to hockey.
