RecAssist eligibility and documents

Applicants must live in Vaughan and provide a property-tax bill, utility bill, driver’s licence or similar address proof. Combined family income must be below the Low Income Cut-offs used by the program. Submit a completed application with the previous year’s Notice of Assessment for all income sources.

Anyone over 18 must complete their own application. The public overview does not quote a universal award amount, current household threshold table or guaranteed turnaround, so ask Recreation Services before planning a registration around a subsidy. Funding depends on donations and fundraisers and can change.

York Region approval is a different process

York Region offers recreation and day-camp support for children in low-income families. Apply to York Region, not through a RecAssist form, and contact Access York at 1-877-464-9675 about eligibility.

After receiving York Region’s approval email, complete Vaughan’s Subsidy Registration Form or Summer Camp Subsidy Registration Form for courses within the approved annual rate limit. An approval email and a course registration are separate steps.

Other support and questions

The city also links Canadian Tire Jumpstart for sport and recreation funding. That organization has its own eligibility and application process; a Vaughan subsidy does not automatically enrol someone in Jumpstart.

Contact rec@vaughan.ca or 905-832-2281 for city program help. RecAssist donations go entirely to recipients, with emailed donation tax receipts for gifts of $25 or more. Donation eligibility is separate from applying to receive support.
